Troubles importing from dvds?

Post by lostinthewoods »

Hello all. I have just reciently found the "create sound file" in the share feature of VS11+. I thought this would be a great way to capture the audio from a few dvds I've made using VS11+ and then burn it to a cd.

When I put the dvd in the drive to import the movie the computer usually gives me several error messages.

"FAILED TO GET DVD DISC STREAM READER......
REPORT ID:0x80040911(2321)"

IMPORTING DVD PREVIEW PLAY VIDEO ACTION FAILED.......
REPORT ID:0x8004095c(2396)"

I'm not quite sure what to make of this. I.m not the most computer savy person but I'm trying to get it all. I searched the forum and found the following link:

http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... orting+dvd

I looked up the H264VDechpdll.dll file and there was only one file there so that is not the problem.

Next I downloaded the FixVTS1 file and tried that. The only problem is that I can't get the DVD drive to read the DVD to drag and drop the file to Fix. This is the error that I get:

"D:/ This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create and association in the set associations control panel."

I get this error when I click on the DVD drive in the "my computer" screen. I go to this area to attempt the drag and drop of the file to the Fix file.

I know this may be an issue that is outside of the scope of this forum or of this software in general but if you could please help me out here it would be greatly appreciated!

thanks a million!

Hello all. Just thought I'd let you all know.

When I made the dvds origionally I burned them in my external dvd burner. When I tried importing the dvds from the external burner I got an error message that said that the streaming did not load again. However, the dvds did import as they were supposed to.

The burner in my laptop is a 8x and the external is a 15x.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Try to copy/paste the entire DVD to a hard drive folder then try to import it again.

thanks for the reply sjj,

I tried that and got the association problems as apparently the lap top will not read the dvd to move the files from it.

dvd shrink will read it but the "my Computer" window will not.

Any suggestions?

If Windows Explorer will not allow you to copy the contents of the DVD to a hard drive folder then you have one of the following problems.

a. No DVD Drive - it might only be a CD drive.
b. Faulty DVD Drive - will it play any DVD's at all?
c. Faulty DVD Disc - try another
d. Copy protection on a commercial DVD disc.

If the problem appears to be b. Faulty DVD drive then check the DVD drive manufacturers website to see if there is any updated firmware.
Firmware is software that resides inside the actual DVD drive that enables it to communicate with the computer.
