A really simple (and probably stupid) question.

Hi all.

Unfortunatelly i am a newbbie in video editing so please be kind :)

I want to make a tutorial meant to play in pc's.

I have gather the videos i need which are screencapture videos from my pc.
Mandatory ,the resolution had to be 1024x768 minimum.

Now what it remains is to make chapters of the final movie and buttons (play ,pause, forward e.t.c.)

From what i have read here , now i should use dvd Movie Factory.
Is this correct?
Or can i use videostudio to make chapters e.t.c.

(By the way movie factory makes my videos in a resolution of 756x528 (PAL) and everything becomes very very small :( )

Thank you very much for your time reading this...
Now i just hope that i will take an answer...anything...cause i am really stuck ...

Yes you can make chapters in VS. Depending on your version there may be a couple of ways to do it, but with all versions you can do it in the burn (Share) phase.

Thank you Black Lab 4 your answer.
As a matter of fact i have met/read several posts of you around here.

If i just could ask you another simple question:

Is it possibe to author 1024x728 videos without these to be changed in another resolution? (cause usualy they turn to pal which make them very very small)

Thank you very much 4 your previous answer.
N.

P.S. Most tutorials around here is made for pre-arranged dvd resolutions or so i have understand -which i might be very well wrong-

DVD requires certain specs, depending on PAL or NTSC.

Jeff -- he's not proposing AFAIK to make his videos into a DVD, but only to use them on PCs.

Again, he should be able to use the native resolution he currently has. But that begs the question of how he will get them onto other computers. Tutorial-type file of that resolution are likely to be huge, so transmitting them via the internet might not be practical. I guess he could burn them to a DVD, though not, of course, as a video DVD, but as an archive DVD and play them direct from the disc as a data file or transfer them to the new computer's hard disc and play them from there (again assuming that the new computer has the necessary codecs and software...)

He mentions chapters, play, fast forward etc. so it possibly will be a Video DVD. the problem appears to be that his video resolution change is causing a problem, the original being 1024x728. For this I think he needs to set the project into 16.9 mode rather than 4.3

VideoStudio can create the chapters and DVD Menus - almost the same as with MovieFactory. To do so please view:

I kindly thank you all for your answers.
The truth is that this project is meant to be played not from a dvd but from a pc as Ken understood correctly.

Until now i dont see how i can do it as far as the menus concerns cause both programs use pal/secam or 16.9 as sjj says.

Fortunatelly i found the solution.
I will use video studio to make/retouch the videos as i want them but i will use flash for menus e.t.c.

Right now only the above formats are good for tutorials, where you need some interaction with the user. (Press to continue e.t.c.)

I have to admit though that after about 4 days of searching around i was very surprised to find that only this program offers interaction over movie (although it is not a plain movie anymore since it will contain interaction).

Another reason that videostudio/dvd factory wont be good for the menus even if i would made them in pal format is because then the user would need a telecontrol to interact with them which is not practical for pc use :)

Thank you for your help.

N.
