Smart Render Batch Encoding

Post by PuzZLeR »

I love the Smart Render feature of VideoStudio. A little slow, but effective.

I love the Batch feature of VideoStudio. Very reliable, easy and convenient.

Now, how can I double my love by doing both together? Every time you use "Batch Convert" you do just that - "convert" in a "batch".

How can I get batching to "batch" without "converting"? Is it possible?

For example I edit, as a hobby, alot of music videos from my DVR. It would be a real pain having to Smart Render them one-by-one, but Smart Render is the best way to preserve as much of the source quality as possible.

So using batch makes my life easier, logistically speaking, but no matter how high the bitrate (assuming MPEG-2), converting/encoding without Smart Render eats up details of the source...

Thanks in advance!

I have this same question, so I am hoping to bring this to the forefront again in hopes of getting any comments. I doubt there is any hope with the version I am using, version 10, to acquire the use of "smart rendering" with "batch convert". But, please, if I am wrong, this would be very useful to me. Maybe someone has seen and tested version 11 or beyond and has found that the feature has been implemented for smart rendering during batch convert. Or, maybe there is a third party program that can do this or another in-house program that can do this.

Any comments?

Hi

I do not think Batch Convert will ever use Smart Render.

When you batch convert you are allowed to add any type of video file, Avi, Mpeg2 etc

You select one set of convert properties. This is used to convert all the video clips.
Smart Render cannot work.

Have a look at the Free Stuff

Look for a program called Super

I have not used, but it may do Batch Convert

Others on the forum may know.

Also project files (VSP) I've used this a few times, seems to work nice for converting multiple projects.

trevor andrew pointed out that the logic behind "batch convert" is to apply conversions from one format to another. However, as etech6355 pointed out, vsp's also work.

I failed to point this out when I commented, but that is why I was requesting that smart render work with batch convert. Just as you can cut and trim one .mpg down quickly using smart render on a current .vsp, I want to work on many .vsp's and then batch them all later while I'm not using the computer for other work. So, while trevor andrew is probably correct in saying that the intent of batch conversion was for converting, given the additional feature of batch convert to work with .vsp's, I would love to see smart render be available.
