Recalling .... 15001:33:1 & 15023:4:2

Post by AlBunda »

Hello,

I am newly registered user here in this forum, and not very experienced in the video editing and dvd authoring. But I do understand the recomendation to search first prior to post a new topic.
Please believe me, I have put some hours to search and read at least across these forums before I decided to open this new thread. And I actually found one thread that fits my current issue, but it seems to be abandoned though there is no solution provided there. It is the 15001:33:1 & 15023:4:2 from January this year.
So, I'd like to revoke the discussion on this topic. Why there are the errors 15001:33:1 & 15023:4:2 (Unnable to switch to Capture Mode, etc)

PLease excuse my long story.

In my case, same as in the older thread - The error pop up when going to Capture tab and then Capture Video.
THe preview window stays black, although it is possible to control the tape and the timecode appears correctly next to the buttons and in sync with the camcorder.
Actual Start Capture and Stop Capture work and the video and audio is played back through the preview window apparently correctly.
After Capture stop - the preview window is black again.

I posted more of what I did the other day in the older thread.
Today I tried different order of connecting/switching the camcorder on and the launching the VS.
I started the PC - I started VS -> Capture -> Capture Video. Got different error message stating that no device is connected which was correct. Click OK and connect the camera to firewire, switch the camera on in Play mode. Now VS behaved perfectly. Message about new hardware and then Cool preview, smooth capture.
I went to Edit and then to Capture again with leaving the Camcorder on and connected. Went to Capture Video and got the subject errors again. And again no preview.
Since that only one working attempt I was not able to get the video in cature/preview mode. Even after new system restart. If I repeat the same as described above - no error messages, but no preview.

I am not desperate, but confused - what is it in there?

I tried capturing the same scenes with Windows Movie Maker and there were no errors and also preview works ok there.

So, any ideas that would hit the nail's head?

Thank you for your patience if you read so far

To me, that is the correct order you should be following. What were you doing when you got the error?

Have you also checked to make sure you have the Preview Window selected as the target device in File > Preferences? I think by default it may be set on install to Dual Head Device. (Sorry I cannot be more accurate as I am currently away from home, using a computer which has not video editing programs on it! )

Black Lab, Ken, thanks for replies.

Ken,I will try this setting. True is that I have not modified any preferences yet, so far I have been trusting the defaults ...
