VS10 Plus crashing on DVD or Mpeg (Share)

Post by evobjorn »

Hi, hoping someone might have an idea, please bear with me I'm on my works pc so don't have all the details to hand - can post up more info later.

Basically, I have a 2 hour 8 minute holiday project created in VideoStudio 10 Plus. I captured all video from my MiniDV cam using USB (captured video's are in AVI format - 720x480), which went very well. Have added numerous transitions, titles and music (MP3).Have had no problems in the project production side of things.

I am purely having problems creating an MPEG or DVD (from my project) when using the 'Share' option - VS10 crashes when it gets to 99% on creating either (both are MPEG-2).

I don't recall the exact error number, but I made a note of this "AppName: vstudio.exe - ModName: mpgmux.dll" within the error this morning - it produces the same error every time - so I'm assuming the error may be unique to create a video in MPEG2 format.

Also I checked and have one mpgmux.dll and its version 1.1.1.135 - could it be a corrupt dll causing these issues? Is there anyway I can

I can post more info when I get home this evening.

Thanks in advance :)

The one thing that jumps out at me is MP3. Some people have problems with MP3s. Convert them to wav files and see if that fixes your problem.

Well it gets worse, I tried the converting all the MP3's to WAV and reinsering them into the project/timeline, tried Creating Video file and the same error appears.

Therefore I thought a fresh install would be needed, so deinstalled VS10 and manually removed the mpgmux.dll and other files in the Program Files/Common Files/Ulead Systems folder (as they weren't removed.)

I then spent an hour hunting for the CD with no luck - was a year since I installed it  so decided to do the right thing and buy a new copy from PC World - so have done so. Have a new copy of VS10 Plus all installed and registered, open the project, all appears nicely in the timeline and click 'Share' and get this error

"An Unsupported Operation was Attempted" on every attempt!!

 I'm not able create a video file or DVD but I don't know why

I've searched on these forums and google, without luck regarding this error - now I just don't know what to do. Maybe it's to do with creating the project using a differenct copy?

Firstly check that the source video files are not the cause of the problem by creating a new project and using different source material.

If you still have problems then perhaps your computer got messed up in attempting to fix the fault and so you should try a clean re-installation using the method here:

Excellent - a clean install seems to have done the trick! :) Thanks
