Project now cut to length when moved to "share"?

Post by lostinthewoods »

Hello all. Let me start by saying you all rock! Thanks so much for all of your help with the little problems that I've had.

The latest one is this. When I edit a movie and go to the share feature the movie that shows up when the share screen opens is not cut to the edited length. Am I not doing some thing right? Is there a setting that I can change to make it move the movie cut to the correct length?

Thanks again,
lost

When you finish editing, you should first go to Share > Create Video File > DVD and NOT Share > Create Disc. If you follow this recommendation, you will render a final DVD compliant mpeg-2 file of your project which should be the length you want it to be.

Then you go to File > New Project and open a new project. Don't worry about giving it a name -- the objective is only to empty the timeline of your existing project, so there should be NOTHING there.

Then you select Share > Create Disc. When the burning module opens, again there should be nothing in its timeline. You then manually select the Add Media button up in the top left and point it to where your new mpeg-2 file is located. It will then appear in the burning timeline, and again should be the correct length.

Make sure the 'do not convert compliant mpeg files' box is ticked in the middle of the three icons in the bottom left of the burning screen. Prepare your menu and burn. Once again, the final DVD should be the same length as your original project.
