I'm new to this forum . Kindly help me out how to make settings for dolby digital 5.1 output for the imported video files such as AVI,DIVX and mpeg2 video files which are to be converted to be dvd video by using dvd movie factory 6 plus.
I have tried to change the default settings in project settings with available preset settings . But I could produce the dvd video with dolby digital 2.0 only.
Whether do i need to customize for new settings for 5.1 production or not? kindly let me know .
First, make sure to set your project type, HD-DVD, DVD ,VCD or SVCD.
Click on the GEAR Icon (bottom of screen), Change Mpeg Settings -> Customize. If you can only select 2/0 your in the wrong module.
this funcion in MF 6 is also not in good quality. It only changes the sound in the video files in that way, that it copies the 2 channels to background. I think it would be better, when I can choose which file I want to have in 2.0 and which in 5.1 (so that I can use an intro (created with VideoStudio11 plus in 5.1) and my normal video files in 2.0 - like they original were recorded)
Have you tried doing this in MF6+?
Because if your want, your intro could be 5.1, The first movie Dolby 2/0, the next movie with mpeg audio & another with LPCM audio. Providing you have enough space on the dvd.
I've tried it again. Now it works. The project settings are in 2.0, one video is in 5.1, the next in 2.0 (I chose the button that the program doesn't render correct MPEG videos again)
In MF under the GEAR Icon are the project settings along with a switch to "Do Not convert Compliant Mpeg Files".
If your videos are compliant they will not be re-encoded is why the above works for keeping separate videos intact.
Your source videos will not be re-encoded IF under the "Project Settings" you have "Do Not convert compliant Mpeg Files" ON.
This is provided your source videos are compliant for the project.
MF is somewhat complex and utilizes "SmartRendering" (like VS). The smartrender is logically controlled.
IF MF does re-encode it will use your project settings to re-encode.
IF your project settings video parameters are EQUAL to the source video the video will be smart-rendered.
In my opinion the best workflow in MF is to create Templates using the Movie "Template Manager". "Bottom Left Icon -> Movie Template Manager". When changing your project settings you can simply select a custom template you have already created.
If you want to convert the video use the Export Feature and select your template.
So for example if you wanted to change the audio in your video from lpcm to Dolby 5.1 and you don't want the video portion re-encoded. Make a template so the templates video parameters are the same as your source video and the audio set to 5.1.
Then when you export your video to be converted MF will see the video parameters in your template equal the video parameters of the source video & MF will smart-render the video, the audio will be converted.
Then remove the original video & replace it with your converted video. In the burning module the source material will be compliant and disk creation time will be drastically reduced because no encoding needs to be performed.
There are many advanced methods one can use in MF. I find this the most reliable when working with videos because if there is a problem with the source videos it will be picked up in the export stage. Also it's nice to have a copy on your harddisk for backup.
Example of using the Template Manager:
For persons working with "High Defintion" Mpeg2 Video here is an example of forcing a recode of 1440x1080i@25MBS to 1920x1080i@18MBS:
Start a HD-DVD Project
Goto "Disc Template Manager' and create a customized template to match your new video parameters of your choice.
Insert your HighDef Video 1440x1080i@25MBS Upper Field First
Export the Video by going to "Export Media Clips and select your customized template".
The new video will have the video/audio properties of your customized template.
