I just got a HDV video and ulead videostudio 11. I can't even work out how to complete the first task of any editor. To delete the bits from my video that I don't want. I've been trying everything and I've given up. Please help me somebody. I just want to mark the start and end of the bits I don't want in my video then click cut and have it automatically join the video together without the bit I don't want. Why is this so difficult. In my opinion this is the number 1 most needed function yet I still have been unable to complete this task after 4 hours of wracking my brains. I can mark to sections then delete everything around that and keep the area I marked but I want to do it the other way around. Why do I feel like I'm missing so many options with this program. Am I stupid or is something that should be so simple really very complicated. And one other thing. Why can't I fast foward and rewind the video when it's playing. Surely it's possible to do that.

If you're already stressed out and giving up then you picked the wrong hobby!
Seriously though, have a look at these:

I highly recommend getting the PDF book, "getting results with Video Studio 9". Yes, 9. The PDF come with projects and such, that VS11 will load. (I have VS10+). It's an geared towards the entry level user, but, I actually caught wind of some neat techniques that I enjoyed learning. http://www.getting-results.com/ Click the VS section, and there is a demo video called "Nightvision". Well worth the ten bucks USA.
