Joining projects

Post by dijego »

Ok, first of all Video Studio 11 RULES! And sorry for stupid question

Now.. i have multiple separate vsp projects (files) but they are all intented for the same movie of mine. Is there a way that i can join this projects in VSP format when i want to create movie in the end and then export it to the dvd, because i want lose any quality doing something like that.. Or do i have to export each project to a clip on my hard drive and then import those clips in my final project

The latter is more likely. VSP files if you notice by the file size doesn;t actually contain any footage. Just markers.

If your final output is DVD then go ahead a render them as a mpeg2 DVD file and start a new project and drag the files over to the new project.

Assuming your projects all use the same settings, render your projects to a file using the project settings and then import those clips into the master project.
Now using Adobe Premiere and Photoshop

Although the advice by Clevo and Guy is correct, you can also add a VSP to the current VSP, by clicking the Insert Media Files into Timeline button (the folder icon above the timeline).

I must tell you, though, that I tried this once and was not happy with the quality of the nested VSP, so I resorted to the previous advice given.

thanx guys for quick responses, that helped me
indeed black lab, i inserted vsp to vsp and it works, although sometimes i get message file format missmatch and i asume it is becouse some project settings are not the same.. and i will see quality once i export it all to test dvd.. if the first solution is better, i will export each project to mpeg2 as said..

What format are the clips you are working with - MPEG2 or AVI?

oh i figured it out.. the message file format mismatch is actually just that my dvd wasnt inserted, i mean the dvd that has source material for project such as pictures and clips

well if you mean the clips that i use for project before i export the project to the final format, i use both mpg and avi clips, and wmv also

thanx again

Oh, ok. If they were all AVI then I was going to suggest rendering to a whole AVI file before inserting into your other project. Since they are mixed you will probably be better off rendering to MPEG-2, since that will be your final format.

You just want to render as few times as possible, especially when using lossy formats such as MPEG-2.
