Taking way too long to render on VS11

Post by Blackbeagle »

I have a video clip that is about 25 minutes long captured on my HD Canon HV10. I created the video file under HDV. I leave it over night and over 8 hours later, it's still not finished. THe status bar indicates its about 1/3 done but the bar is not moving. So I cancel the project and do it again during the day but it still takes too long. Does anyone possibly know the problem?

My specs: AMD Athlon 3400+, 3 gig memory, 512mb video memory, XP pro with SP2, 250g hard drive.

How much free continuous space do you have on your HD?

How are you capturing? USB? Firewire? Transfer?

So many questions to ask! :)

Well my HD has plenty space so that shouldn't be the problem. Also, I've already captured the video so the cables so shouldn't be the problem. The problem occurs when I'm trying to burn the final project and the rendering process. It just keeps going and going and going and never stops to actually burn.

I've created a video file and that takes some time too but not that long...usually 15 minutes or so.

You haven't told us your clip or project properties, or what steps you are taking in this whole process. I don't know how you expect a meaningful answer.

Read the top post on this forum and provide the requested info.

One other thing you might want to check is that you may have accepted the default in making the menu of having an animated fade-in or out of menu elements. When I have accepted the default, I too have experienced a never-ending render...

In the burning module, when you open it, the first page allows you to insert the videos you want to burn to disc. The 'Create Menu' box should be ticked. Then you press Next and are taken to the page where you choose your menu template from the Gallery. Next to the Gallery tab is an Edit tab, which allows you to fine tune your menu. At the bottom left of that tab, there are two buttons 'Menu In' and 'Menu Out'. By default, the first is disabled (blue circle with a diagonal line through it) but the second one shows an animation. This seems to be the culprit. Set that one also to disabled and see if that improves the final burning times (it should...)
