Intervideo WinDVD 8 Platinum HD/BD & Intel GMA3100/x300

Post by Wo0zy »

Hi all,

Has anyone tried of heard of anyone that has tried BD or HD DVD playback using WinDVD 8 Platinum HD/BD on a G965 or G33 chipset motherboard. My board has the GMA3100 IGP with integrated HDMI and HDCP and I was wondering if anyone can confirm or deny whether this works before I purchase.

Many thanks.

Pity nobody from Corel/Intervideo actually reads these forums.

According to Intervideo marketing articles this has been demonstrated but I'm not going to pay for a copy until functionality is confirmed.

It's not like you haven't got any competition these days. How about answering a basic question

Anyone care to comment on this http://www.afterdawn.com/news/archive/10008.cfm

Evidence or marketing hype? Still no official comment and still nobody brave enough to try :o

So far over 400 people have checked out this thread. How high does it need to go before someone takes an interest?

*Bump*

Once more. Just in case.

I'll expand the question to include X3500 (G35) and the G45 platform when it's released.

Now, i never got anything working with earlier WinDVD BD, haven't got Version 9.

But using G35 Chipset and PowerDVD.....and a little investigation. It seems like G35 Chipset can only play Blu-Ray movies if use the Vista Drivers. So on Windows XP, we are totally scr*wed.
When they write what cards are supported with either WinDVD BD or PowerDVD. They should NOT forget to tell which operation system the card is supported for either.
I think i got as far as to notice that NVidia's GeForce 8500 only supported BD Play under Vista. And it starts to annoy me. BIGTIME.
So far, we only got BD's play under Windows XP using a motherboard with 690G Chipset. That's Radeon X1250. Will try with a 790G soon. (Any hardware i can get my hands on, not going to install Vista. That's for sure)
