hello i use SUPER to convert video from MPEG to AVI and it plays fine. After burning audio quits in middle of each clip.
Here Super conversion info.
Encode to file format AVI
Use Video Codec: DV Digital Video, 720:576 (5:4), 29040 kbps, 12.5 fps
Use Audio Codec: mp3, Stereo, 96 kbps, 22050 KHz, Audiostream [default] selected.
i really do not understand the nuts and bolts of video/audio codecs/formats so any point in the right direction would be appreatiated.[/img]
mf5+ audio quits middle of each clip
Why? Are you converting it because you need to edit it? Are you making a regular video DVD? As you may know, DVD's are MPEG-2, but MPEG-2 can be difficult to edit...i use SUPER to convert video from MPEG to AVI and it plays fine.
Try using WAV (PCM) audio at 48kHz. DVDs use PCM* or Dolby AC3 audio at 48kHz.
SUPER's DV settings are a bit limited. 720x576 is correct if you live in a PAL country. 720x480 is used for NTSC, but SUPER doesn't allow it. 12.5 FPS (frames per second) is not valid for DVDs. PAL video is 25 FPS and NTSC is 29.77 FPS. I don't really understand the 5:4 "aspect" either... I guess that's the pixel ratio, but usually you need to specify the aspect ratio, i.e. 720x576 4x3 (fullscreen) or 720x576 16x9 (widescreen). Since the video is working, Movie Factory is able to make the conversions, but fewer conversions will generally result in better quality.
There is a chart on this page with most of the DVD format specs.
* In DVD terminology, it's called LPCM (Linear Pulse Code Modulation), but it is the same as SUPER's WAV option. CDs and standard WAV files use Linear PCM, but with audio files it's often just called PCM.
