Time line and title woes??

Post by lostinthewoods »

Evening all! I have a problem. I've just spent the last 2 hours correcting the dates for a video of our children. Once I got all the dates right for the correct clips I saved the file. I set the start point for this particulare DVD at the clip where we brought our daughter home from the hospital.

Now comes the problem. I want to add in an ultrasound clip of my daughter at the begining. I have no problem inserting the clip into the whole video. The problem is the timeline doesn't adjust the title line to stay where it is supposed to be thus throwing off all of my dates. I don't have the dates assigned to each individual clip as there may be several clips with the same date.

The way it looks, I have to insert the clip then rework all of the date information?

Does anyone have any suggestions for me on this one? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You need to turn on ripple editing, then select the tracks you want to include in the ripple edit.

The icon to turn on Riplle editing is on the top left hand side of your timeline panel.

You don't say what version you are using. I think Ripple Editing was introduced to v9.

Providing you have one of the later versions which supports 'Ripple Editing' there is a video tutorial here which will help you :-

It takes a littlw hile to get used to...especially when taking away clips or trimming clips... if your sound track is included in the ripple editing (as it probably would) and there is no room for everything to move down then you cannot ripple edit till you make some room for it.
