After reading all the problems here, I was a little worried about the new install of VS 11 on a Vista machine.
(Was still using Videostudio 7 on a XP machine)
I am happy to report that the install went fine.
Had a problem with Quicktime but solved it
So I selected a bad movie on minidv tape and some left over
DVD+R disks that I always had trouble with and put it to the test.
THE TEST:
New Dell XPS 410 Intel Q6600 at 2.4
2 Gig ram, Windows Vista Home Premium
Panasonic PV-GS35 camcorder.
A really bad quality 12.19 minute movie on a minidv tape
shot last year at night.
SIIG firewire card (card moved from old PC to New one)
DVD+R disks (always had problems with these)
I started up VS 11 (which went faster than I expected) and went directly to Video Edit and setup a new video project. Plugged up my Panasonic PV-GS35 and did a raw dv capture through a SIIG firewire card without any problems. (VS 11 detected the camera instantly) Played around with some of the video corrections (VS 11 did fix it up a bit) and went to burn a DVD.
Selected a Moving Title using the movie as background and plugged
in the text, had VS 11 break up the movie into 5 chapters and hit burn.
VS 11 thought about it for a moment and took off.
Time from start to the time the DVD disk popped out 16.08 minutes
Did I say Wow.
Took the DVD and played it on the living room TV.
(was brave and let the family watch)
DVD played fine and the movie looked good enough to keep.
So a Big Thunbs UP to VS 11 Plus

Thanks for that.
I too had very minor hiccups when installing VS11+ and it works awesomely for me too. No problems with mine.
I had one crash and I think that was because I also had a few apps open like Photoshop CS2, adobe Bridge and IE. Adobe Bridge is a real resource hogger. But I needed to fix up a couple of stills on the fly.
I've learnt to be careful, save frequently and if things go a bit sluggish, logg-off and restart PC.
And the great thing is...the more I learn of how powerful this software really is I find editing so much more fun.

All too many times you read on this forum only people's problems with the software. It's good to read someone's success.
