You may have DirectX 9.0c, but you may NOT have the latest update to 9.0c, which confusingly enough, is still called 9.0c. If you go to the Microsoft site for DirectX, you will see that there have been a couple of updates at least this year. Download the latest version and install it. It will still be called 9.0c but enables certain features of VS11 to work properly...

In the beginning posts MrAmigo2121 asked a tech question referencing the video card. The poster is using an ATI, when you install the ATI software there are 2 main drivers from ATI, the video card drivers (Catalyst), and then there's the WDM drivers. The WDM drivers install video/audio codec's for capturing & video playback depending on your ati hardware. You can still install the WDM drivers even it your don't have any ATI capture hardware.. It's the WDM drivers from ATI that can cause issues with ulead software. the poster also has the SB Live 5.1 audio card. This audio card works well with it's generic 16bit drivers & mixing console, the other software & resident drivers that creative installs can definitely cause problems such as 24 bit audio drivers, resident programs for auto jack sensing on the audio ports, ASIO drivers and the the all so common "What U Hear" mixing port.
ATI's latest WDM drivers channel audio to the PCI bus. So when you capture using the ATI software you select PCI bus and not "Line In", this depends on the capture software & version of WDM drivers from ATI. I believe this is also the reason MF6+ and VS11+ uses a different capturing method now.

It's a real task to solve these issues. The windows programmers that write the installation programs leave behind to much garbage when you uninstall the software you think may be causing the problem.

You can buy a new $2000 computer, install some open codec packs & VS will not run after installing these packs or the codec packs will crash VS after editing for a few minutes.

The answer is if the program is crashing or won't startup & run properly contact tech support.
