Anims in web page

Post by palser »

Hi again,
I have been playing around and trying to get my anims into a web page but for some reason cannot get them to display at all.

They all work ok in the GIF animator preview, and also in Windows Picture Viewer, but in my web page they dont show.

Any ideas appreciated.
Thanks

Without seeing the HTML for the page, can't really say for sure... Not really enough info to answer that properly.

For starters...

Do you have the gif files saved in the same folder as your HTML file? What does the IMG tag have for the gif location?

Hi thanks for the reply (to both the posts!)

I have the images in the same folder and if i copy a gif from other source they appear ok.

the img tag as follows...

<img src="name.gif" width="460" height="60" alt="animated gif" />

Is there any other steps to follow apart from "save as".

Really puzzling me this one! Once again thanks.

Other than things being case sensitive... GIF isn't the same as gif as far as the browser is concerned. The Preview tab in GA uses IE's engine, so if it plays there, it should in the web page, as long as the HTML is right, the filename is right, and you did save it in .gif format...

Once again thanks for reply,

Am sure all is ok with programming as I can get anything else to appear and I agree that if it appears in preview it should work so still puzzled.

It is saved as a gif. What I have found is that if I export to HTML it saves the gif as "untitled" so I rename this and put that into my own HTML file and all works ok.

This is a very basic problem and really annoying!

BTW had a look at your site yesterday and very impressive samples on there.

Cheers

Thanks, Paul! A few years of playing around, one gets the hang of it!

As for your problem, I'm kinda stumped on that... I've never had any issues like yours, nor heard of anyone else having them, either.

If instead of using "save as..." have you tried saving from the Optimization panel?

no have not tried that, cannot understand this one!
I am doing basic web design so fully understand of the img tag and capitals as you suggest, and have tried this on my pc and laptop.

Must be something so obvious that i am missing it, still got it to work so all is ok, even if this is the long way.

Once again, thanks.

If you would like, email me (as attachments) the html file and .gif files, and I'll see if I note anything amiss. Just click the "email" button below my signature here.

Have saved from the optimise tab and it works! so tried it with "save as" and it works, so problem solved (somehow!)

Thanks for your time!

Will be looking thru the forum and prob your site to see what tips I can pick up.

Cheers,
Paul
