Legal Rights: Using PI12 for Book Images

Post by Damantha »

Hello,

I have been using PI for many years and recently started working on a series of kids books using some characters I created using the amazing PI12 program. I have looked through the legal agreements for something specifically related to using the software in doing books and (forgive me if I'm wrong) but I don't see anything related to this topic. What I am understanding is that the logo of Corel & or images relating to the company name itself is not permitted w/o permission.

My question is: Can I legally use the software to create image pages for my books and if so to what extent?

Thank you for an amazing product that is not only a joy to work with but the most user friendly software I have ever tried.

If you hold the rights to a photo, i.e., you took the photo yourself for your own use -or- to an image your made in a paint-type program, then you can do whatever you want.

If your images are derived from another source, then you need permission from the rights holder to publish them.

If you feel generous, you could credit Corel as in, "Image created using Ulead PhotoImpact 12 by Corel."

Thank you so much for the fast reply. I am so excited! FYI I wouldn't imagine doing these books without mentioning this amazing program to the world. :o)
