Motion problems

Post by mickskate »

I have just purchased an HDR-SR5 camcorder. It records AVCHD
to a HDD. The camcorder came with its own file viewing software.
When I view movies with Sony's "Picture Motion Browser", moving
objects seem quite crisp - and if I grab a screen I get sharp images
with only the tiniest amount of motion blur.

See http://www.ukslalomskateboarding.com/sharp.jpg

However when I view exactly the same file within Videostudio, the same frames look
to have a kind of double image.

See http://www.ukslalomskateboarding.com/blur.jpg

I have tried getting Videostudio to render to a variety of formats,
but the output files also have the double image effect when viewed
in third party viewers.

Can anyone explain what is happening? Can I get VideoStudio to
render a movie without this problem?

Thanks,

Looks like we are going to need to know how you have set up your project settings.

If you could kindly read the first sticky post on this forum and give more details I'm sure someone could help.

If you are going off the 'preview" screen then don;t let that count as it's in preview mode.

Consdiering you have burnt a DVD and tried it on third party software it could be something you have in your settings at the share stage.

Will need more details though.

Import mechanism: from the "capture" tab I clicked "Import from DVD-DVD/VR" the set the "Import DVD folder" to the BDMV folder on the HDD of the camcorder itself (connected via USB).

Once the clip was uploaded I selected the "Edit" tab and dragged the clip into the section marked "drag and drop the video clip here".

I then clicked the "share" tab and clicked "create video file". I then tried a variety of output formats to produce a variety of files which were simply saved to my computers hard disc. I would then try viewing those created files with a variety of viewers including VLC and alshow. It seemed that whatever combination of file formats and video players I used I still had exactly the same double-image problem.

Is your camcorder one of those Hard Drive ones? I thought it was just a matter of transfering the files over to the PC hard drive and skipping the whole capture process in VS11.

Did your camcorder come with it's own capture device/software? What happens when you use that?

Yes the camcorder is a HDD one. The format of the high definition files is "MTS". VS11 can not simply use these directly. I think the files are in a format which you would find on DVD's and I found out on this corel forum that you are supposed to capture the files in the way I described in my previous mail.

The camcorders own simple capture software, converts the files to "m2ts" on my computers hdd. I didn't try editing those files, but I am away from home right now so I can't try that out for a few days.
