Quick question regarding Video Clips in VS11

Post by Codename067 »

Hello all.

I don't want to sound like an idiot by saying this, but I just might.

What I am trying to do is move the video clip to the right side of the Time line so I can create that empty gap.

Any help regarding this situation would be great.

Thanks in advance,
Geo

Edit: Refer to the following pic to see exactly what I mean: [Movie Maker]

In the main time line the first clip will always go to the left. Either you can put in a black color block to fill the space, or you can put you clip in an overlay track. Clips in overlay tracks can be positioned anywhere on the timeline.

Thanks for your reply.

The thing is, I am unable to move them where ever I want. I can't. For instance, I want to put the 3rd added clip, say, 5 seconds away from the second clip, but, I am unable to do it. The program is not letting me. Every time I try to move the last added movie to the right [so I can have pictures and sounds play separately from the video], it never works. The clip never moves to the right.

Edit: I am trying to leave a gap between the video clips, but I can't. Sure, I can move one video to the right or the left of another, but trying to make a gap between them is something the program wont let me do.

Example using Windows Movie Maker:

I'm sorry, from your initial post I thought you were trying to move the first clip away from the beginning of the timeline, which you can't do. What you also can't do in the main timeline is have empty gaps between clips.

So you'll have to do what I proposed in my initial reply. Either fill those gaps with a color block, or bypass the main timeline completely and just use the overlay tracks, where you can position clips wherever you want.
