Memory could not be read error

Post by krsopp »

This error seems to be frequent for many people, sorry for the re-hash, however, I haven't gotten any positive results from several experiments and no other software ever gives me memory errors. I am constantly receiving "The instruction at 0x0a567545 referenced memory at 0x0a567545. The memory could not be "read"." Sometimes I can get around this w/a reboot or memory clear or rebuilding my vsp file. Tonight I can not seem to get past it. I have tried setting the virtual memory as explained on FAQ no resolution. The address changes but it is the same error message. I have my firewall off, virus off, internet off, popup blocker off, and my system is currently set to system managed virtual memory. That seemed to work the best for a few days.

This is becoming very annoying and I can not seem to make it go away today as I have in the past.

I have an Intel Pentium M 1.86 GHz processor w/ 1Gb memory running Win XP Home w/SP 2. I have 36 GB free on my hard drive and memory usually has between 500 & 600mg free. I am running Virtual Studio 10 Plus, and mobile Intel 915GM/GMS, 910GML express chipset for video.

It might be a bad video file. What format are your video files, and where did they come from?

The most-compressed files seem to cause the most trouble. If you are working with DivX, MOV, or any of these highly-compressed files, the video file is most-likely the source of the problem. Even MPEG-2 (the DVD format) can sometimes be trouble!

I don't recall getting that particular message, but all of my crashes (and other weird problems) have been related to (apparently) corrupt MPEG-2 files.

All of these "bad" files played-back OK... I just happened to discover that it would work fine with some files, but fail with others... In some cases the program would crash when working with an editied version of the file, but it would work OK when working with the unedited version.

Memory error

Post by krsopp »

The files are avi format brought over from a DVR with capwiz. I generally don't have a problem with them at all. So it may well be a bad file. I have de-fragmented the hard drive and am going to try it again before I attempt the suggestion below from Corel Tech Support. Anyone every heard of their suggestion before now?

You are correct Doug when I start editing the file, removing pieces of it, or start creating the menu in share mode is when the program starts getting the memory errors. The raw files playback just fine.

Thanks for your ideas!

Uninstall first Video Studio 10, then download the following files and install them in this order:

1. Microsoft .Net Framework
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en

2. Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en

Reinstall Video Studio 10.

Please do not hesitate to contact us for any further questions.
