How many versions must I buy 'till they get it right!!

I am now at MF4 after many years and STILL the same old sizing errors. I have a 1GB MPEG file created by MF4 and a 3GB MF4 MPEG. They both have exactly the same properries. When I join them, MF4 tells me it now has an 8GB file that will not fit onto a DVD! For years this has been happening, when are they going to get it right!! Luckily I have been listening to wiser sages on this board and now never let MF4 burn anything. Converting it to an ISO image produced the correct size that Nero then quickly turned into a DVD. Why do I pay for 'upgrades' when nothing changes??????
