Cut n Paste job...help needed

Post by lakewud »

A quick question for a quick answer.

I have two images of a group of people, some have there eyes shut on one whereas some others have their eyes shut/ not smiling on the other...its an important family image, taken at the smae time, with virtually the same distance from lens etc etc...SO,

..Am wanting to cut out at least two of the people, just the headshot, and paste it onto the other photo..thereby having the 'perfect' photo!

Can i do it? and more importantly, can i do it, minimum of fuss and the overall effect, once the photo is blown up to around A4 size ( slightly less perhaps ) without it being noticed - too much.

Please, any advice welcome, whats the best, easist way of going about this...i have PI12.

Thanks.

This might be related to some of the other posts you have currently but here it goes. Extract the heads of the people you want to use, using any of the numerous extraction tools available in PI. Personally, I prefer the masking tool. Convert your selection to object and paste it onto the image you want to use. No need to cut out the old faces, placing the new one over them covers everything underneath.

Whether or not this will be noticeable depends to a large degree on your skills but more importantly on the lighting used for the two shots. Use a small soft edge setting when painting out your selection mask, maybe 5 or 10 pixels. This will help to blend the pasted faces into the back ground.
