Missing "Create Disc" option in Videostudio 10 SE

Post by ottogiugno »

Hi, I'm a newbie with Ulead VideoStudio 10 SE and I have a little problem.

As I finished importing my video files in the very last window I have only two option, create video file and edit video in Videostudio (I use the italian version, don't know if it's exactly like that in the english version).

I need to create directly a dvd with my videos but the option "Create Disc" is not listed... how do I solve this?

Create video file is under the SHARE (click on the SHARE tab which should display a number of options including Create Video File).
Along the top of the screen you should see
CAPTURE EDIT EFFECT OVERLAY TITLE AUDIO SHARE

John I think the original poster has used the DV to DVD Wizard to get to that point although I've never used it so can't be sure.

OP: Did you have a disc in the DVD burner ready to go? It is posible the Wizard doesn't allow that option unless there is a disc there.
Did you use the DV to DVD Wizard?

I think you are probably correct.
I never use DV to DVD wizard so the thought never even entered my mind - sorry.

I think if you have used the DV to DVD Wizard or the Make Movie Wizard when you get to the point you are at you should have three choices. make video file, burn a disc or go to the VS Editor.
As I say, the only reason I can think of as to why you don't have the disc burning option is that it may require a disc to be present in the burner.
I must add that I am not sure on any of this because not many people on the board actually use the Wizards.

Yes, there's a dvd ready to burn in.
Even if I don't use the Wizard under "Share" I have only Create Video File, Create Audio File, Record DV and Play Project, but no burning option at all (once again, I use the italian version so I'm not sure the options sounds like the ones I said).

My version is Ulead Videostudio 10.0.0110.0 SE and it comes with my new Samsung X300L.

Maybe it's a limited version which doesn't include a burning option? But it sounds a bit strange since it isn't marked as a shareware or limited version...

Yes, the "SE" means it is a limited version. There are, in fact, some limited versions that allow burning, but they are usually labeled "DVD SE".

You can download the trial of v11 which will allow you to burn.

Fantastic.
I can't really understand if Samsung think that someone can use at 100% a product like a SD based camera without burning the videos on dvd.

What is the purpose of adding an editing software that doesn't burn in a camera that hasn't an HD?

It would be cleaver to add a shareware version, so that I can try it totally in all its features, but for me this "Ulead Videostudio SE" cd is as useless as a piece of plastic.
I'm very disappointed. I'll take a look if I find something freeware.

Thanks for the help, and sorry for my poor english.

Because they want you to BUY VideoStudio. :?

I can assure you that you won't find any freeware that can do anything close to what VideoStudio does.

I don't want to flame or what, but I think that this means no respect for the buyer.
It should be clear both in the camera box and in the software user guide that you totally can't burn your project with the software in the bundle (while in the pdf that came with Videostudio SE there is no mention of this limitation).

So that a newbie like me understand that it's necessary to buy also a software to use the camera because what they add in the box is inappropriate.
By the way, it's a Samsung lack of honesty.

I don't need nothing particular, just a simple piece of software that takes my avi and transform them in something that can be read from my dvd player. No title, effects or other stuff.

But I know that now I'm a little OT in here.

Thanks again.

Hi again,
Sorry I missed the SE part of your post there!
I have to agree with you that it is prety shoddy of Samsung to only include the SE version and not the SE DVD version.
I can't imagine the extra licensing would add that much to the overall cost of the cam and this is the first time in a long time I have heard of any manufacturer going for the totally stripped down version.
Did your DVD burner come with any OEM software package? Nero perhaps?

If your version of VS10 SE will allow you, after editing, to produce at least a DVD-compatible mpeg-2 (Share > Create Video File > DVD), then you can burn that file to DVD using a third party program like Nero. Nero 7 in particular has a quite sophisticated authoring module with good choice of menu templates.
