A fatal error has occurred while installing

I've tried to install DVD MovieFactory 6 several times, and each time I get to AVControlSDK, I get the error message "a fatal error has occurred while installing".

I've tried this suggestion (didn't work):

1)removed the DMF6 folder that was created in the first install attempt
2)copied CD contents to your hdisk
3)edit info.ini and change AVControlSDK=1 to 0
4)ran setup from the copy on disk
5)ran utilities\AVControlSDK\AVControl.exe from the copy on disk

And I've tried this one (FTP is a dead link):

1. Do a clean remove of DVD MovieFactory 6. Make sure the following folders are removed:

"C:\Program Files\Ulead Systems\Ulead DVD MovieFactory 6.0"
"C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead DVD MovieFactory\6.0"
"C:\Documents and Settings\[YOUR USERNAME]\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead DVD MovieFactory\6.0"
"C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ulead Systems\DVD"

2.Download and install this patch:
ftp://ftp.ulead.com/pub/Updates/VideoSt ... pgrade.exe

3.Reinstall DVD MovieFactory 6

Why would i want an update for VideoStudio11???

I can get this link to work:

ftp://ulead.com/pub/Updates

But there's no VideoStudio11 subdirectory.

Has anyone had this same problem and gotten it resolved?

I don't have that copy of WinDVD - I believe mine is 3.0.

It seems Ulead/Corel support's only response to this common problem is to download this patch - I've emailed them several times that I can't open this link.

Can anyone open this link?

I have suffered the problem of getting a "Fatal Error" message in the middle of installing DMF6. I have found a solution which works for me. Details as follows:

1. Manually delete all files installed in the DMF/ directory wherever it is installed on your computer.

2. Download and install the trial version of "Intervideo WinDVD 8".

3. Install DMF6.

4. Remove the trial version of "Intervideo WinDVD 8".

Having completed the above I have tested DMF6 extensively and it is working OK. Good luck!
