VS9, when?

Post by gordon_fan_24 »

Maybe I've missed something, but what is the release date for Video Studio 9. Also, does anyone know if I can upgrade to it from Video Studio 7 SE DVD, or do I need to buy the full version of VS9.

It has already been released in Singapore and will be progressively released elsewhere this month. From the Ulead news release:

"Availability and Price
The box and electronic download of VideoStudio 9 will be available in April for $99.99 at www.ulead.com. VideoStudio 9 will be available in May in North American retail stores and catalogs for an MSRP of $99.99. Previous owners of VideoStudio can upgrade for $49.99 at www.ulead.com "

You will be able to upgrade.

And it confirms that MPEG-4 and AC-3 remain optional plug-ins. Not that I can say that I am surprised by this.

It says the AC-3 plugin is included, but not the MPEG-4 and 3GPP plugins are not.

Rendez2k -- where does it mention that the AC-3 module is included. I have just gone to the website again and looked at everything there again, and the only reference I can find to any audio feature is to a 'VST Audio Filter Plug-in'. I don't know what this is, but you'd think they'd day it was AC-3 if it in fact was. The only direct reference I can find to AC-3 is under 'Plug-ins' where it says that AC-3 is still optional and will cost US$29.95. But I am more than willing to be be proved wrong!!

EDIT: have just had a closer look at the Plug-Ins page and saw the small print, which I will swear was not there last night. But you are right -- it confirms that the AC-3 module is included in VS9, but you still have to purchase it if you stick with VS8.
