I have WinDVD 6 Platinum. Aftermarket (commercial), not OEM.
I have searched both the help, google, and this board on "Audio Booster" (all terms) and not found anyone asking about the Audio Booster at all.
Nature of the problem
The Audio Booster does not work (does not appear in Audio Subpanel)
The Original Audio Subpanels does not work correctly (Audio Effect, Audio SRS, and AUdio Mode all work)
I reinstalled the software, but did not see any option on whether I can or can't install the audio booster pack. Since I see it as a checkbox, I assume it works.
Properties of your source files
Source software file is WinDVD from, I am assuming, you guys.

I might have found the answer myself. I didn't find it on the tech support search I did, but when registering a new account (separate from this board) to email Corel, a "suggested answer" came up.
A screen pops up wanting information--my login from when I created my Intervideo account. It also wants a password, and a license key from the confirmation email, plus the last 4 digits from the credit card I used to buy the product.
1. It's too old for me to remember what credit card.
2. This appears geared towards a digital download--I have a CD in a box.
3. I was never asked to register when installing the CD.
There is hope--one additional help says: "Download and Activation." I didn't download, but I do need activation help. So I click that.
I go to that web location--luckily it uses the same account as I created to send an email in the first place. The web page has no button called "serial number" but there is something close:
So I go back to the original location, closing all javascript windows, and click " If you still require an answer... Submit Question."
What do I get?
- Can anyone help me fix this WinDVD issue?
- And will the board Admin please notify Corel their web mail help form is broken (a lack of new emails should have already tipped them off).
OK, but I just installed the program. There was no registration or anything in my aftermarket ( non-OEM) version. So I right-clicked and hit "activate now."There isn't additional download needed for this pack, simply open WinDVD 6 player, right click on playing screen and choose "activate now", enter the license key for Interactual pack will activate this feature. note: make sure you have activated WinDVD 6 first before you can activate the Interactual pack. The activation prcess for WinDVD 6 and Interactual pack is the same.

I never logged in to download, I bought a retail box.To re-activate WinDVD 6, you must get a new activation key from your member account on our website. To retrieve a new WinDVD Gold 6 or Platinum license key, please log back into your member account on our website(the same e-mail and password used to purchased the software), once you have login to your account, click on "serial number" button and this is the new key that will allow you to re-activate the software. The link to your member account is http://www.intervideo.com/jsp/Signin.jsp WinDVD 6 Installer Download:

Clicking that shows I have no purchased products, no serial numbers. Of course not--I just registered, and I bought this from a store.View Your Products
See a list of your registered Corel products and free trial downloads. Retrieve your serial numbers.

I see the main site / technical support is just as good as the software they put out.Fatal error: Unable to open E:\RIGHTNOW\scripts\rightnow.cfg\scripts/enduser/home.php in Unknown on line 0

I went back to Corel's site and tried their Online Registration Page
I put in my serial number and all my information....failure.
-------------------
Sorry, we are unable to register your product for one of the following reasons:
- The serial number is incorrect
- This is a legacy product and we no longer support it's registration.
--------------------
Since I have the original serial number sticker, and it's many digits short of the download version, I think it's #1; they don't recognize their retail box serial numbers in their web software any more than they do in the WinDVD program itself.
WinDVD6 is from 2004 (3 years ago) and is shown as an option on the current support pages, so I don't think #2 applies.
Corel web help is not impressing me.

Because the email help is broken (see above), I tried the phone numbers here: http://www.corel.com/contactus
I called the Canada's tech support line (I'm in the USA) at 877-662-6735
I had to bounce from first line support to a second guy. Both were very helpful, and I had no wait time (first guy) to a very short wait time (second guy). I consider this good service, and both were very helpful.
I was sent new product activation information as if it was a digital download. The program accepted the information without issue. Tim W. was very helpful.
However, after applying the new registration information, the Audio Booster still doesn't work. Neither do the higher-level audio options beyond "Headphones or 2-speaker." And when I right-click the screen and select "Activate Now" again, the fields are blank, as if my registration/activation didn't take.
Any help?
Original Audio Pack shown as working in WinDVD 6 Platinum.
Note: 4/6 channel Dolby not working has been fixed, see next post.

Audio Booster not working, this time with proof showing my activation did work. This is after a reboot.

Not much action here, but:
- Email tech support form is fixed after I both posted here, and made phone calls.
- My problem is submitted, and I referenced back to this post in the email form.
- The reference number for your question is 071019-000175
- Hopefully I hear back soon!
One of the options (suggested solution) was to re-download the software. I did that. I reinstalled from the downloaded version, instead of the CD version. I entered my codes, quit and restarted....and nothing changed.
Dolby 5.1 Issue: Solved.
I do have Dolby 5.1 on my laptop, so I installed WinDVD there. The option for Dolby is then allowed. I then went back to my desktop and went to Control Panel >> Sound >> Audio tab >> Sound Playback >> Advanced button....and saw it was set to 2-speaker. I changed it to Dolby 5.1 and WinDVD recognized it.
However, the Audio Booster does not work on my laptop, either.

I downloaded WinDVD 7 Platinum from Corel. You can also download a 14-day trial for Win DVD 8, but I want to work one step at a time.
I installed WinDVD 7 on my laptop. When I do that, the full Audio Center options (equalizer, hall effects, environments, room size, warmth, etc) are all available. This tells me the function does work.
Desktop Audio Driver: SoundMax Digital Driver built into ASUS motherboard. Supports Dolby 5.1, though I currently have it set for 2 speaker (should not affect equalizer function). Have not yet installed the trial WinDVD 7.
Laptop Audio Driver: SigmaTel C-Major audio built into Dell XPS Gen 2 laptop with Dolby 5.1 speakers built in.
- WinDVD 6 does not let me use the Audio booster functions
- WinDVD 7 does work. Gives me full control over Audio functions.[/url]
My email was returned and I spoke to tech support on the phone this morning. They looked at this post, did not have any quick answers, and said they'd get back to me. Once again, I may be calling in the morning but they always get me a human in under a minute. Kudos to their help group on responsiveness. Hopefully they can fix the issue as well.

I got an email from R. McIntyre at Corl. He pointed out that the Audio Booster Pack sound option appear at the top of the DVD viewing window, not in the control panel window.
I verified the Audio Booster function works even with the standard (short) serial that comes with my WinDVD 6 install CD. I did not need to perform the extra "right click to activate" with name, long serial, email and last 4 of credit card.
The "regular" sound control panels are found by clicking in one place (the floating DVD control panel, yes it can be docked), the audio booster in another (upper right of viewing display window), and only one functions at a time. I hadn't anticipated such a strange setup. All sound options should appear in the same spot.
Also, I recommended if they haven't fixed this in version 8 or 9, once you right-click and activate the updated/full version of the software, it should not have the unpopulated option to do it again. Once activated, it should be obvious it has been activated.
Thanks for supporting an older product. Very good customer service.
