If movie factory won't open it* try converting it to MPEG-2 with SUPER or SVCD 2 DVD MPG (both FREE!!!).
* Movie can open & convert some MPEG-4 files, but there are many variations of each format.... And, all of the highly-compressed formats do seem to cause lots of trouble. ...Even MPEG-2 (the DVD format) can sometimes cause trouble, especially if you edit it.
