hi,
I have just purchased a Sony DCR-SR200 and VideoStudio 11. When I'm using the software, I can't see the camera. I also can't see the camera when I checked with Movie Maker. I know the Camera is seeing the PC as I can download images and movies from the camera via the USB port onto the Sony software. Can anyone help me by telling what i need to do to enable the software to see the camera directly? I have had no problems in the past when using this PC, moviemaker and a Canon tape camera.
Many thanks

Being a hard disk camera, I thought the only way of transferring the video *was* via the USB connection. But that is not a 'capture' as such. You don't go into the Capture page of Video Studio. Rather, in the Edit page, you normally, with these cameras, just use the Insert Video command by right-clicking in either the Library pane or in the timeline itself and pointing the program to the camera, which should show up as just another computer drive.
The problem may be that Sony often doesn't make things easy, and wants its hardware to work only with its own software. In other words, you 'import' using the Sony software, but once the video is on your hard drive, you simply open it in Video Studio for editing. However, I stress that I don't know if this is the case with your particular Sony.

When I use the import from dvd feature, then click on "Import from harddisk folder" when the next browsing screen opens up I need to hit the "F5" function key to refresh that window which then will display all the drives. I think that VS remembers and caches this list when it first launches. Not sure, but if users are having problems seeing the drives then try hitting the windows refresh key which is the function key "F5". I know when I launch VS & then put a avchd disk in the drive to read I have to use this refresh function.
