The Canopus Procoder does a nice job, but it falls into Lance's 'very expensive' category. It is really a pro program. And I agree also with his assessment that most other programs are at best only so-so in their results.
For what it's worth, I have three separate stand-alone PAL DVD players, each of a different brand. And each happily plays NTSC DVDs as well as they do PAL ones.

Yeah, I've been told that most European dvd players now do both but apparently her grandmother has an old one. We called her today and she said she will soon have some kind of "box" that will enable her to view NTSC and that she can view on the cpu for now.
I will just send all the dvd's in NTSC. I didn't realize it was this involved and thought it was just a matter of choosing which format you want it in.
