Capturing video from analogue TV is not in colour

Post by Petermagic »

Very new to MovieFactory 5. Have 2 queries. When capturing picture from my analogue TV - the picture although in colour is showing on my computer screen via Moviefactory in Black and White. Have tried adjusting all colour settings and different types of PAL but is still in black and white.
Second question - after capturing video from my D drive (which is in colour) and then going through the whole process of burning - it says it has failed to burn onto disc. Am I possibly using a disc which isn't large enough in memory?
Many thanks for your help.

1, Please give more details, such as method of connection, cables used, settings chosen, where you are, source file type etc. At a guess I would say you are using an s-video cable with a non s-video output, or the source is NTSC and you are recording in PAL.

2, Please give more details, such as source file types, where they've come from, size in gb, size in length of time, what setings you have chosen, what disc you are using, what burner you have, pc specs, any error message etc

Colour issue

Post by Petermagic »

Hi in answer to first question - I am using an S video cable from an S video external output. I am recording from PAL to PAL - am based in UK.

Regarding second question - shall go through the process of trying to burn something again in order to get this error message- only it took 3 hours of burning to get this message so will take some time again.

Thanks for your help - really appreciate that you are trying to help.

Cheers.

Are you sure it's an s-video output?
What are the components?
What is it being plugged into on the pc side?

3 hours of burning!!!!! Are you sure? Or was this rendering, muxing and burning?

What about the answers to the rest of the questions?

Colour and burning problem

Post by Petermagic »

It is definitely Svideo output.
I do not know what you mean by components (am just a girl with little technical knowledge!!)
On pc side it is being plugged into Grabster 250 which in turn is plugged into PC in best/fastest Hub outlet.
Burner is Atapi DVD A DH20A1p 6x 13
Disc is DVD +RW 120 min video 47 GB DRTR
Souce just defaults to Anolog TV - cannot tell it anything else

Input - have used both composi9te or S Video both the same and it seems to be the best picutre on PAL_M - althouhg Black and White

Format is
DVD-HQ 720x576 7.2Mbps

Sorry if sound a bit untechnical but am a great whiz at creating websites but this program has fazed me.
Pls if you can help then that's great but I don't think I understand some of your questions.

Never met a girl called Pete before!!

Componets would be the items you are using to do the conversion, so the leads, grabster etc, which I now know.

I can't see anything that stands out to hit me from the terratec site, so lets try something else.

When you installed Movie factory did you chose PAL and the UK as your sources, not just one. As it may be your MF5 is set to UK but NTSC.

Is the black and white issue affecting all or just some VHS tapes?
The reason I ask is because if you are in the UK and using PAL you will see PAL VHS tapes in colour, if you try to play a NTSC VHS you would only get monochrome. This is due to the different TV standards.
