I am using VS8 version 8.01.0000 and it is using up 100% of my CPU Usage when I try and preview my finished project. My project does not include any video - it only includes pictures, music, titles and transitions. Additionally there are only about 25 pictures and a single song in the program. Nevertheless, when I preview it, the song skips and the pictures freeze at various points. This has not happened in the past. In fact, I was able to do video which I would think would use more CPU and more memory. I previously used the old version of VS8, but when that was not working I updated it to 8.01.0000. I have already tried uninstalling and reinstalling the program.
My computer specs are as follows:
Dell Dimension 8200
1.8 GHZ Pentium 4 Processor
512 MB RAM
40 Gig hard drive with 6 gig free space
120 gig hard drive with 25 gig free space
Service Pack 2 was installed
Choppy Playback of VS8

For a 1.8GHz processor, that's fairly normal. As was mentioned in these forums many times, the Preview a) is not very indicative of how the finished project will look, and b) a 100% accurate preview cannot be done in realtime without hardware assistance.
