Stuck at disk menu, buggy interface

I have played a few movies successfully but have had a problem with navigating from the Disk Menu. For example I cannot choose scenes from the scene strip across the bottom of the disk menu on some DVDs. On the Ultraviolet DVD when I insert the DVD it autoplays to the Disk Menu where you are supposed to choose PLAY, SCENE SELECTOR, EXTRAS and such and then when I choose PLAY or any other choice it seems to try to play and just return to the Root menu or DVD menu, whatever its called. Anyone else have interface problems or better yet solutions?
