When Mask effect used VS10 crashes

Hi VS Friends,

When I want to use as effect any mask A,C or D than VS10 crashes. The standard Windows message appears to send report or not, further no fault or error messages.
I only can use Mask B components.

Any suggestions?

What format are your source video files? Where did they come from?

The more compressed formats are "difficult" to edit. All of my crashes have been caused by "bad" MPEG-2 files. People who work with MPEG-4 variations seem to have even more trouble. ...Sometimes it seems as if the editing is causing the corruption, but maybe it just makes the existing corruption worse.

The source files I am using are in AVI format.

Unfortunately, '.avi' covers a wide range of formats, from pure uncompressed .avi which produces huge files (1 hour video = 65 GB); through DV/AVI (13 GB = 1 hr); to the more highly compressed formats that Doug was talking about such as DivX or XVid. Right click on one or more of the files within VS and it should tell you whether it is one of these.

thanks for feedback. The file format is as follows:
File Format: AVI- Open DML, Size: 822.150KB, Frame rate: 25.000 frames/sec, Duration: 233.800seconds, Date Rate:3515.63 kbps, Video: Compression DV Video Encoder Type 1,
Attributes : 24 bits, 720x576, 4:3.

I have captured in DV format, I have edited the scenes and than I wanted to add Effect. Maks A,C and D results in crash of VS 10 with the standard Winows fault message Top send report or not.
Only MaskB types do work.
