Copyright information to add or not to add

Post by happyhero »

Hi Sorry if this has been asked before but I could not find it, but when you go to burn your DVD with VS, if you click (using version 11) the little icon bottom left which is a picture of a DVD with an "I" on it, you get options ie COPYRIGHT INFORMATION and PERSONAL FOLDER.

If I click COPYRIGHT INFORMATION for say a video or slideshow I made, what will this actually do the DVD?

I assume it will add something. Will it make anydifference when I play the DVD in a under TV DVD player?

What will it's effect be if I try to copy this DVD?

Lastly what is the benefit of using this for someone like me who is burning DVD's for personal use, ie not a bussiness etc?

Any help appreciated

If you think it will copy-protect your disc you are mistaken. A DVD copy protection license costs thousands of dollars.

I believe the Copyright Information function of VS simply allows you to put a message on your disc saying that it should not be copied, or else you will send someone over to confiscate their first born, or something to that effect.

If you want to use a copyright message you may want to have a look at this.

It will add a COPYRGHT.TXT file on the root directory of the DVD with the text you type in it.
It can be seen and opened for viewing on a PC.
This my understanding of it.
I have been proven wrong on several occasions in my life. It's not going to improve.

The best place for a copyright message is within the video itself - just like the Hollywood Movies.
