First I would like to say that from reading through these forums I am impressed by the wealth of knowledge here. Hopefully someone can help me with this unique problem..
I am using Movie Factory 4 SE, and decided this version was not going to work for me. I removed the program in control panel, but when I did about 30 of 35 of my desktop items were gone. I tried doing a system restore to several different points, at which time the folders came back(including the MF4 program), but files inside a lot of those folders are missing. For instance, there is a folder that had video clips in it (not related to MF4), the folder is there but the video is gone. I also had a folder with many shortcuts to computer maintenence programs(defrag, disk cleanup, etc), all of those are gone yet the empty folder remains. Some folders containing software are there, but the software is just gone. I have tried searching for the files and software, some of it was moved elsewhere and I was able to find it, most of it is just gone.
What I am wondering is, can I get the missing data back and if so, how? Thank you for any ideas, Nick

Thank you for your response, however here is the sequence of events:
went to control panel, add/remove programs
removed MF4
instantly my desktop items dissapeared with the exception of 4 of them
tried a system restore to the previous day, where there was a backup point
MOST folders came back, about half are now empty
some files have been found in other locations, others not
This is where i am at. The only other possibility is that while trying to send a customer support email(before finding se versions do not come with support), the form asked me to download a deal that provides all computer info (in notepad?), i did delete that as well before the problems started. i don't believe that would cause this problem.
All i know is the above, the problems started the exact second I uninstalled the MF software. Does anyone have any ideas?

I wonder if anyone else has?
I am using windows search to locate some of the relocated files and folders, inside of one of my relocated folders is the Zip file that I mentioned above(the thing I downloaded for the customer service form that gives your computer info). I am starting to wonder if deleting that notepad(?) document displaying the specific computer info has anything to do with it.
Believe me, Heinz-Oz, I am as bewildered as you at this. I am no guru but I am above average computer savy. The only changes that were made are as I mentioned above, and as Corel won't support this software I am at the mercy of this forum. I hope someone might be able to send help my way.
BTW the name of the system info file is "GetSysInfo" if that helps, thanks again.
