Installation Loop. Help!

Post by Laurel »

WinDVD came pre-installed on my Dell and has worked nearly perfectly for approximately one year (only problems were reading some files, which could probably be put down to codec problems). Last week, WinDVD broke and has been trying to reinstall it's self every time I turn on my computer. This is VERY annoying.
:x
I can't even uninstall it as it says there are missing components and without them I can't uninstall! The only possibly useful bit of info comes out after it goes into a loop several times with the windows installer and then tells me to insert the CD-Rom or search manually for the file, then gives the following:

C:\DOCUME~1\LAUREL~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\pft18B~tmp\

There was no copy given on my disks from Dell, and at this point, if I can't solve this easily by a patch or something, I would prefer to just uninstall. Please advise me how to do this, without having the CD-Rom.

Cheers,
Laurel
