Error 0x80040707 during AVControlSDK Install (Intervideo?)

Post by Alan Mintaka »

Hi,
I downloaded the full version of MF6 and ran the install program. It started OK, but when it got to installing

AVControlSDK

I kept getting

Internal Failure
Error Number 0x80040707

When I clicked on "OK" in this prompt, the program just kept looping around this error. During the loops it would tell me that it was intalling something to this folder:

Intervideo\AVControl

There was no other path given. Instead of selecting an alternate folder, I let it continue with the default path.

Eventually I managed to click on "Cancel" in the "Installing AVControlSDK" popup between errors and this at least got me out of the loop. Then the MF6 install program told me it was done and asked for permission to restart the system.

After restarting the system I tried to install the first patch. Right away I got this error:

String FullProductName_DMF was not found in string table

When I clicked on OK I got this error:

FullProductName_DMF is currently running in the background. Please
close the application first and try again.

I opened the Task Manager and sure enough there were two instances of the program running. So I axed them both and tried again. I got the same errors.

It seems as though the first patch installer launches two instances of the above-named program and then complains that there are two instances!

(sigh)

I tried uninstalling/reinstalling the whole mess and the same thing happened with both sets of errors.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

OK, I went to this thread

http://phpbb.ulead.com.tw/EN/viewtopic. ... =avcontrol

and found that the issues with AVControlSDK have affected many users of Ulead applications. Based on what I saw in the thread, there was no solution and the FTP patch recommended had a broken link.

So what's up, Corel and Ulead? Has the AVControlSDK install problem been fixed, and if so, what is the solution?

Thanks,
