"Ulead Photo Explorer has encountered a problem . . .&q
I've bought a webcam a couple days ago, and the Ulead Photo Explorer software was included, so I installed it. Now, it's properly installed, but I keep getting an error message whenever I try to open the program. I use Windows 2000 / XP, and I need help. Anyone know what I have to do? I've already tried uninstalling & reinstalling again, but that doesn't work.
Any advice is very much appreciated.

Ummm!
It can't be properly installed if you can't start it! Have you tried installing the patch - there is a 3in 1 patch for Pex 8 but apart from that can't help. I presume you have looked at the Ulead FAQ site? If you are up to it you could try unistalling again and then go into the registry to remove all traces of Explorer before reinstalling, but this can be tricky.

Well, atleast I think it's properly installed, I mean I followed all the instructions on screen correctly. Could you give me the link to that patch, because I can't seem to find it.
Also, how would I be able to delete traces of Explorer, if the patch won't work? When I searched in FAQ, I didn't find much useful information, since my product was purchased not downloaded, but maybe I looked in the wrong place.

Nicole, for the patch go to http://www.ulead.com/tech/pex/pex.htm There you will find links to the patch for your edition and also links to FAQ. On the right of the page there is a direct link to installation faqs. There are some helpful suggestions there.
It is worth persevering with the program as when it works it is quite handy and simple to use. I often use its photo editing tools in preference to Photoimpact when I just want to lighten a picture (underexposed) or change a colour cast. If you are unfamiliar with the registry it is best not to fiddle with it but the uninstallers of many programs often do not remove all traces of the program in its entirety leaving various "orphan" references to it which can slow your computer down or prevent a wholly clean reinstall of the program. There was a neat little freeware program around called RegCleaner which had some simple tools for cleaning up the registry. I have used it for many years with W98SE and W2k and it has never deleted anything which I have regretted. (Actually it creates a backup which you can restore if there is a problem)
Hope this helps
