I initially purchased a first VS FULL VERSION at v6 and upgraded to v7, v8 then v9. While loaded with upgraded v9 my Operating System went bad. I was able to do a restore but had to go back and reinstall all original programs in order to get all programs to show up on Add/Remove Programs of XP Pro. While installing all original programs (from disk) I discovered that I was unable to find the FULL VERSION disk of v9. So, what I did was buy a FULL VERSION of v10+ so I would be back to a FULL VERSION install and have now upgraded to v11+.
What I want to do now is get rid of everything on the hard drive prior to at least v10. I am not sure if I can delete v10+ or not for that is the current FULL VERSION from which I may need to keep (not sure) in order to do upgrades for the future v12 etc. Another uncertainty is whether or not I can delete v10+ (making sure to never misplace the v10+ FULL VERSION disk). Nothing prior to v10 shows up in Add/Remove programs. My question is how I can get rid of everything on the hard drive prior to v10+. Secondly can I also delete v10+ not that the v11+ up grade is installed.
Is there anything better that I can do other than go to Explorer > Programs > Ulead Systems > Ulead VideoStudio 9.0 and delete it all then go to ¡§Documents and Settings > user > Application Data > Ulead Systems > Ulead VideoStudio > and delete folders 6.0, 7.0, 8.0, 9.0 and MAYBE 10.0+? I never plan to use or do anything from or with those versions again.
Any suggestions will be very helpful.
Thanks
How to get rid of +- v6-v9 and maybe v10

When you installed VS11+ upgrade did it ask you for the serial number of your earlier version? I think that Corel have changed the way an upgrade now works by simply asking for a valid serial number of an earlier (qualifying) product without the need for it to be installed on your computer.
The procedure for getting rid of previous versions can be found here:
Re-installation of Ulead Products
You can also find this procedure on the Corel Website

Hello SJ,
Thanks again for excellant information and links.
You ask: " When you installed VS11+ upgrade did it ask you for the serial number of your earlier version? "
Upon install, the out of the box disc slip cover had a serial number on it that had to be input before going to the next screen. At the next screen a serial number was ask for. I placed the original serial number of my older v10+ FULL VERSION there and the install went just fine.
You said:"I think that Corel have changed the way an upgrade now works by simply asking for a valid serial number of an earlier (qualifying) product without the need for it to be installed on your computer."
That is a good point and something I need to know for sure before I remove v10+ from my hard drive, which I would like to do, if it is no longer needed and doing so will not create a problem.
Where can I find out more about whether or not what you think is the new condition? What you think appeals to me for I have no desire to keep old versions on the hard drive if no longer needed in relation to current and future upgrades. I prefer to just keep "a valid serial number of an earlier (qualifying) product" as you said. I assume that many others would like to know the same.
Should I contact Corel directly, by phone, for an immediate explanation as to whether or not older versions need to be retained on the hard drive or if having the original serial number of the (qualifying) VS product is adequate.

You can safely remove the earlier version(s) your reply confirmed what I thought was now the case.
If you perhaps had to reformat your hard drive and re-install Windows.
When you later come to the point where you want to install VS11+ upgrade
it will
a. Prompt you for the serial number for VideoStudio 11+ upgrade
b. Prompt you for a valid serial number of an earlier version or other qualifying product.
You do not need to have the earlier version installed.

Video is video, and as long as Video Studio can recognise a format, it does not care where the video is located on the computer. So you don't have to worry about moving video clips from one sub-directory in an earlier version to a sub-directory of VS11 which has an identical name. VS11 will not automatically see them anyway. If you want, you can create a subdirectory in VS11 and call it, for example, VS10_Samples or VS9_Video, and then transfer the video from VS10 and 9 to there.
But within VS11, if you want the thumbnails of these added clips to appear in the library pane, just like the VS11 samples, then you have to use the Insert Media command, point the browser to the new folder, and select the clips.
But again I say, to do this, these other clips can be anywhere on your computer, and not necessarily within VS11.

Thanks for all the information. It hasd been very helpful.
I have been buying and upgrading VS since v6 but have never used it. This year I am determined so I have assumed (perhaps not rightfully so) that bringing a lot of stuff over from previous versions before deleting those versions from my hard drive would be of some benefit.
I have been dizzyed by all the folders and files and lack of understanding as to how they all do or may relate. As a result of the forum assistance I have at least developed a better feel for it all.
