Hi All,
I bought VideoStudio 11 today for just this purpose. So I could take everything between time line X and X + 15 seconds, and change the volume of the audio.
The best I have been able to do is change the volume of the ENTIRE video clip, but that's not what I want.
Rubberbanding, from the PDF does nothing, and my help file does not work.
Can someone please show me the way? This has become quite a challenge, and am quite desperate.
Thanks ahead of time,
Sergio

How exactly did you do the rubber banding? In my experience, it always works. In Audio view, I go to a spot a couple of seconds before I want to vary the audio level and left click. A little box appears on the audio line. Then I move to the spot where I want the audio at the lower or upper volume and left click again. Another box will appear.
Then I move to the end point of the volume variation, click again -- and again another box will appear. Then a couple of seconds further on, and another click and box.
Then I simply drag the second box down (or up) to the desired volume level. Do the same with the third box. And presto, you have reduced or elevated volume with a couple of seconds at either end for fade down and up to make it seem more professional.
Manipulating the boxes may be a bit tricky to start with, but it comes with a little practice.

Let me try with a visual (image below).
Using the Attribute I can change the green level of audio, which is across the entire video.
The red level makes no noticable change.
How can I change the green level in certain parts of the video only? Is that possible? It shoudl be, shouldn't it?
I need help, please. I jsut bought this app, the help file doesn't work, and you can't search through a PDF.
Thanks ahead.

I just adjusted the volume of a video track, bringing it down to zero. Later returned it to normal. This does work. I think I know why you're not getting the volume to reduce.
In your audio view, see the Green Line, and also the 250 in your volume attribute tab? What you have done, is told VS that you want the volume for the entire clip to be at 250. It seems the rubber band does not over-ride this setting, UNLESS it is at the normal 100.
So try resetting the Volume Attribute to 100. I'll wager that your volume fades now. You shouldn't even have to go back and mess with rubber banding it..
Yes you can search a PDF doc. Are you using Adobe Reader? You can get to the audio section by
1. In the left side (panes) open the Bookmarks. Then scroll to the Audio chapters of the Document.
2. Menu bar, upper left, there should be a binocular looking icon with the word Search.

Are you listening to it in Clip mode? I believe you have to be in Project mode to hear the changes.

You are correct. I was about to post that it turns out to RENDER the final video with my changes, but how inconvienient is that?Black Lab wrote:Are you listening to it in Clip mode? I believe you have to be in Project mode to hear the changes.
So being able to hear it in Project mode saves it all.
Thanks to everyone who helped, but I have to ask a follow up question. The red line doesn't do nearly enough for one segment of the video. Is there not a way to just raise the green line in a portion of the video?
