VideoStudio 10 Plus - Red Line on Timeline?

Post by KugarWeb »

A thick red line has appeared just above the chapter and timeline sections of my screen. I think I must have right clicked or done something to add a "segment". Now I am forced to only be able to preview that particular segment rather than being able to preview the entire video normally.

I tried the obvious things of right clicking the red line and trying to find an option to remove it and also went into the menus but couldn't find anything.

I know it has nothing to do with the chapter points since this is a separate option below it although I think there is a section on the screen marked out only for segments - whatever they are or do!! :?

In Project view, go to the left hand end of the red line and click the jog bar corresponding to it below the preview window, and drag it to the extreme left. Do the same at the right hand end and drag it to the extreme right. The red line should disappear.

Ah ha! Thanks very much! What would be the reasoning behind using the segments - what are they actually useful for? :?

Thanks again, I can get back to my editing finally :D

The red line actually does indicate your preview range -- precisely as you found. But if you should burn the project file to disc, you would have found that VS uses that preview range to exclude those parts of the project outside the red line from the final DVD!
