cant see inout from camcorder to capture

Post by ahchew33 »

I have a Hauppauge wintv pvr 500. When I go into Ulead to the capture section I see the channels but I want to capture my mini dvs. I connected my camcorder to the video and audio inputs to the video card but cannot see the video when I press play. I have scrolled through all the channels and fail to find what channel the input is going into. I was hoping it would be channel 0 or 99. pls help?

If I recall correctly, the Hauppage card is one of several brands which only work properly with the software which comes with it. In other words, you need to capture with that software (usually with DVD-compatible mpeg-2 as the capture format), and then import that captured files into Video Studio.

To add a footnote, this is not the fault of Video Studio -- Hauppage refuses to share their code with other companies so as to maintain their proprietary edge.

wintv 2000

thx for your reply. I guess the bad part is I use beyondtv and it wont let me use the bundled software when beyond tv is installed. unless someone tells me different. The bundled software wintv2000 is a great capture software while beyondtv is not so great since it requires configuration everytime I want it to recognize any feed from my camcorder.

what do you think?

Sorry. I have to confess I have never heard of BeyondTV and I have never had a Hauppage card. Hopefully users who have used either or both will comment.
