Greetings folks,
I conducted a search on FGM and Film Grain Modelling and got zero.
I'm particularly interested in this effect. It's not just an enhancer, it's more standard in MPEG1/2/4 implementations, but I'm wondering if there's a filter, or anything similar, in VideoStudio that adds to this. I particularly like this feel in video and would like a bit more of it.
I'm not talking something like the "Old Film" filter. What I'm referring to can probably be described as the opposite of "DeNoise".
Thanks in advance.

How about sample video clip, V11 (static)? Put it on an overlay track and adjust its transparency.

Brilliant! Never thought of it. I'm already playing around with the settings until I find my "sweet spot". I'm in love... Thanks!
However, this being video, and not an image file, I can't "stretch" it on the timeline for the duration of the clip, or project. Even in it's clip properties I can't edit the "Video Duration" either to make it match the time of the entire length.
I know there's longer work-arounds for it, or even create a long file that I have to cut later, but any other better ways of doing this?
Thanks in advance again!
Note: Did not find this in VideoStudio 11. Maybe I did "housekeeping" and deleted it. Nevertheless, it was on VideoStudio 9 as "V10" on an older PC that I also have.

Can't you adjust the Playback Speed, or at least just put multiple copies of it back-to-back?

The actual file is just over 2 seconds long. The Overlay track doesn't let me stretch it like I can an image file.Black Lab wrote:Can't you adjust the Playback Speed, or at least just put multiple copies of it back-to-back?
The Playback Speed gives me a maximum of 25 seconds. Still a tad small.
Making copies of it back-to-back can be very cumbersome for even a 5 minute movie.
It's not that big a deal anyway. I'm creating a longer version of this file using, of course, VideoStudio. It will be in my personal templates. I can cut it as needed for each project. Better to make one cut than to make copies of the smaller file dozens, or even hundreds of times per clip.
Unless someone knows of a convenient way to stretch the video's length on the Overlay track (like you could an image file) this is a very decent solution.
I do thank you very much for the "static" file tip. It's a fabulous idea!
