Have you gone to File/Preferences/ and checked "Show messages when inserting first clip into the timeline?"
If you start a new project then insert one of your AVCHD clips you will get a dialogue box asking if you want to change the Project Properties to match the properties of that clip.

I have a bigger problem, I cant even import the file although I have 11+. Is there an update of this? Usually, its easy importing video file to edit but it seems my version of 11+ gave me an error like did not recognize the file format which is a MTS file which is HDV file. Thinking of editing and send to the web.

Hi,
Before you import first setup VS Project settings.
Goto Project Settings, under the COMPRESSION tab drop-down box select MPEG2. After selecting MPEG2 as the compression you will be able to make the correct settings. The editior will only use Mpeg audio right now. To have it converted to Dolby is done in the burning stage.
Or, buy MF6+ and install the latest PATCH2 update. You can insert the MTS files directly into the timeline of MF6+ with PATCH2. MF6+ trial will not do this.

Or, wait until they update VS11+ to be able to insert the MTS or M2TS files directly. You videos are probably in the TS (transport stream) format. When they are then VS doesn't ask you to match the project settings. You have to manually set the project settings as in many other video editors.
