I have VS 11 Plus and want to add an audio clip as an overlay to my video project. I see the option to import from a cd but I have a huge music collection on my hard drive. I have to believe you can add an audio file but don't know how to do it.
Thanks in advance for your help
How to import audio file???

The two lowest tracks in the timeline view are for audio. One is theoretically for music (the one with the musical note icons to its left) and the other (microphone icon) is theoretically for voice-over comments. But either can be used for a music track or tracks or for other audio effects.
If you right click in either track, select the 'add media' (insert file?) command and point it at your music directory. (Sorry, I don't have the exact term as I am currently away from home and don't have VS installed on this computer...
