What's the deal with SmartSound Quick Tracks Plug-In?

This SmartSound plug-in is an ENORMOUS file and I believe it's connected to VideoStudio 8 somehow. Do I need this or can I uninstall it? How is it connected to VideoStudio 8?

If you don't want Smartsound to generate background music of the exact length you desire for your videos, then you can uninstall it.

I'm wondering, though what you mean by enormous? Chances are the space taken up by Smartsound is significantly less than the next video you capture.

When I go into Add/Remove Programs it comes in at a whopping 2,000mb.

I'm not sure how it determines the size, but that number is very wrong -- the entire UVS+Smartsound+Extra Content Electronic Software Download from Element5 wasn't that large.

I'd guess Smartsound adds up to a few dozen megabytes at the most, I'll check this evening after I get home.

This is because of a bug. The size shown in add/remove progams is wrong. Mine says 3 GB, but that is the wrong size. The real size of mine is 3.4 MB. For some reason, no patch has been sent out for this. Kind of ANNOYING.

Not sure where you looked, but my version has 352 MB in the Smart Sound folder of C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data, and another 7 MB in Program Files folder. But still, that is a far cry from 2 GB -- though I acknowledge that my Add/Remove Programs also shows it as 3.4 GB!!

Ok, thanks guys. I have only ever looked at SmartSound in my Add/Remove Programs tab. Saying it's a bug makes sense to me. I could not figure out how this thing could possibly be 2,000 freaking megabytes!!

My file size totals are identical to Ken's -- 7MB worth of code, and 352MB in audio tracks.

in add and remove programs, smartsound plugin has no reference to size, the column is empty
