trouble with the music track

Post by jmcm »

I'm using 256kbps encoded mp3 files in the music track. They play fine in preview or in a saved MPEG video file, but don't at all when rendered to DVD folders. I've used mp3 files before successfully, but not ones I ripped myself from CDs like these. Do I really have to convert all these to WAV or something like that and reload them all?

You might have to. Some people have trouble with certain types of MP3s. In your case maybe it's the 256kbps. You might try 192kbps. But you would have to convert them anyway, so might as well just go for wav, as they don't seem to have any problem in VS.

VS seems to have difficulty with the LAME-MP3 codec in particular. That is used by Nero and some other ripping programs. The only option, as Black Lab has suggested, is to convert to .wav.

I'll try a test case. It's annoying in this 25 minute project because they're all trimmed and volume-adjusted, and they work in a video file and in VSP-level review. But at the very end at the DVD stage it's silent.

Thanks for the suggestions.

To save re-doing the project try exporting from the share tab as an audio file - it will default to WAV format.

Now mute the existing audio track (or delete it) and import the WAV file you just created.
