codecs, will they stay when uninstalling vs 9/10 ins. 11

Post by brucefl »

I received vs version 11+ yesterday, getting ready to install. I noticed on the board some problems with codecs? If I uninstall 9 and 10 will I have problems? I don't like the idea of having 3 copies of VS on my computer. Though some of the threads I read, now. I should of waited to purchase an upgrade to 11+?
thanks

Many people have multiple versions of VS with no problems.

I have 2 versions at present myself. Just figured it is waisted space. Only reason I kept 9 was because I liked a few of the templates. Same with thinking of keeping vs 10. Found I seem to have got along without the template in 9. Just feel that two other versions will clutter up the computer, but concerned with deleting codecs on the uninstall.
Especially if others have had problems with codecs?
thanks Bruce

Hi

Uninstalling earlier versions may cause problems with the later version. (I say may)
Shared files and all that.

If you have problems do a repair to the latest version.
That is, try to reinstall it and select ¡¥repair¡¦
You may loose your library to the default state????????

I found VS 9 to be the best version so far, probably worth keeping.

Most have several versions installed as mentioned earlier.
and that way you can answer specific questions for VS 9

You can copy your custom libraries.

The library files you need to copy are:
Video = VS_Video.dat
Audio = VS_Audio.dat
Images = VS_Image.dat
(The same format applies to titles, flash, colors, etc.)

They can be found in C:\Documents and Settings\User Name\Application Data\Ulead Systems\Ulead VideoStudio, in the appropriate folder 8.0---9.0---10.0¡X11.0

Only problem I would see with that, is I have a 9.0 and a 10.0 folder?
More concerned with the codecs, some threads had said 11+ does not come with them, and assuming if I uninstall, 9 & 10, that those might disappear?
thanks

I have 7 8 9 10 installed

These have been installed that many times that they practically do it themselves.

If I had VS 11 I would try it for you.

You could always re-install 9 and 10

May be it depends on whether you have the full version or the upgrade??????????????
If the full version it has to work as a stand alone version
