I want to add subtitels in several languages. I entered Enlish subtitels myself and then saved it to a text file. I then had the text translated and pasted the text to a file with timecodes (i.e. to a copy of the English file). I was hoping then just to bring the text in and it would go to right place since it would have exactly the same timecodes as the riginal English.
But it does not work. When I try to import text from file, nothing happens. I can import the original English file, but another language. The file is a TXT file.
Couls this be a charcter set problem? The second language is Russian. If I try to paste the text into the subtitle editor, I only get question marks which have replaced the charcaters. And since i don't have a Russian keyboard,I cannot tpe the text oin, I need to import it somehow. Either via a file or clipboard.
Anyone had such a problem?
Also, when I try to dedicate a subtitle track to a specific language, I always crash. Is this a known bug?

If your DVD WorkShop is v2, check the update packs in http://www.ulead.com/tech/dws/dws_ftp.htm
And then check the Q&A in http://www.ulead.com/tech/dws/dws20_updatepack.htm
Hope this helps.

Re: Importing subtitle - problem!
As the previous poster said, Cyrillic characters are valid only in the latest update.
The easiest way of handling sub-titles is to copy/paste the first one, select the language character set for the new ones and then over-type the old text with the new one directly. That way, you can see exactly what you are doing. I did it that way with English/French/German/Greek on one project.

Thanks!
Great to have a reply so quickly!
Yes, that seems to be exactly what I needed. But just now Ulead's FTP ste seems to be more or less down. I have an 4mega/s ADSL connection, and I am downloading at 5k/s... and then it stops altogehter. Hopefully it will work better soon, so I can continue with the subtitling.
I bought DWS2 only some two weeks ago by downloading it from Ulead online store. Had not realized that I would still need to download bug fixes which date from six months ago.
Anyway, it is good to now it was a known problem and that a solution exists. So thanks again!

Dowloaded th latest bug fix. Follwed the instructions on how to import TXT files and changed the character set code to 204 (Russian Cyrillic).
This did not help at all. I still only get question marks... WHY?
Also, trying to define language setting for a subtitle track from within the software produces a crash...
Somebody please help!
