Unless the serious bugs reported, even by experienced users on this board, are fixed, I would not recommend it to any unsuspecting newcomer out there, regardless of the deal. 8)

My take on it is that it is a stock clearance in preparation for VS12.
I would certainly hope that if it is true then an update/bug fix pack would be made available for VS11 as well.
I for one am very pleased at having not upgraded to 11.

I take that type of promotion to be indicative of a sales slump. If you're having problems moving a product, then make the deal L   K good.

The patch for VS11 will not be released until December, and I seriously doubt VS12 will be released before the end of April '08.

Isn't $59.95 exactly the same upgrade offer they've had since the release of VS11+ in April?

At that time I posted the following comment ..

"Hmmm .. at first glance, I don't see anything too earth-shattering in the new version that would convince me to part with another $60. "

After reading all the posts regarding problems with this product, I'm even more convinced that VS10+ will see me through for a while longer.

I am counting on the patch based on the MF6+ patch.
The latest patches to VS10+ are nice.
The latest patch to MF6+ is nice.

As far as the comment referencing increasing sales. This is "Standard Procedure" for many companies and I don't think this is a limited time offer.
Looks to me more like a change in policy.. They are doing exactly what their competition is doing.

What I liked about this ad was it's similar to the other products I update. You enter a qualifying serial number & download the full version. Unlike the previous upgrades that ulead has offered where it wouldn't install without the previious serial or you had to have the original version installed.
You can order the Retail Boxed version or the ESD version, same price.

I was under the impression that after you downloaded it you then had to put in the 2 qualifying serials, maybe I'm wrong. I thought the previous offers were the usual upgrade path that I never cared for.

I doubt a patch will fix your capturing problem. I really hope it does.

I installed VS11+ trial and could capture without any problems using my Sony HC3 HighDef cam. While capturing previewing was very smooth. After capturing the HD video working & editing it was easy because it was in PS (program stream) format. VS11+ doesn't have any problems with PS format.
Patch# 2 when released for VS11+ should fix/add avchd/h264 issues along with better transport stream editing.
Hopefully they can address the problems some are having trying to capture.

Still curious, you installed VS11+ and cannot capture HDV, did you ever have any other ulead software installed prior to installing VS11+. This could be related to not being able to capture. Un-installing & re-installing does not fix the problem. Windows XP or Vista also makes a difference.
Forgot to mention I'm using windows XP, not sure about Vista yet. Still setting up another harddisk for the ulead software on Vista.

I do believe the capturing problem on HDV is related to the compatibility issue with Vista. Appreciate you could report on the testing result on VIsta platform.

wai2,

I can't capture with my HC3 in Vista using VS11+ trial either.

I also have MF6+ Retail, installed that and it captures in Vista.
I then opened up VS11+ after installing MF6+ with patch# 2 (applies to MF6+).
After installing MF6+ then using VS11+ trial I did get the program to capture, but in the capturing module to initialize the cam and built a preview graph takes over a minute, task manager says VS11+ isn't responding (it's working), eventually the program comes back in focus & I could capture.

Bottom line, needs a patch. Had no problems capturing HDV in XP. Worked very nice & preview while capturing in XP was very smooth.
